Band poster for Arthurs Day 2013;

It's been a while since I updated my blog.
I'll start off with cocktail menu I designed for the Bleeding Horse Pub on Camden Street;

Next up is the menu I designed for the Bleeding Horse Pub (please note the logo was pre-existing);

And Lastly, this is the logo and menu I designed for the Tolka House pub in Glasnevin;

Later this week (4th July), Louise O'Brien and Ethna O'Brien will be exhibiting their work at the Bleeding Horse, Dublin 2. Be sure to pop down for a look.

A color rough for a canvas I am working on.

Bearded Man

This is a continuation of an image that was included in the first post on this blog. It is a poster concept for the World Beard and Moustache Championships 2013.

I drew the two characters separately using a light-box and then pasted them, one on top of the other, using photoshop.
I then used Illustrator to trace the lines. I added the text, background and border too.
I then added color and and texture, before dragging the image into photoshop to add tone and grain.

This first piece is a book cover design I created for a college project celebrating the anniversary of Aldous Huxley's Brave New World.

I opted for a simple, flat graphic, largely inspired by designer Jason Munn.

This next piece is a poster concept for the World Beard and Moustache Championships. This is still a work in progress, but I saw it as being finished enough to post on my blog. It is also an example of where I would like to go with my illustrative work.

These next two pieces are a mock-up of a magazine article. The text itself was taken from the internet, and the headers were taken from the entry forms for the 2013 S.P.D. design competition. The work was again inspired by Jason Munn.
I opted to do the article based on the Minnesota rap artist Brother Ali and his latest album Mourning in America and Dreaming in Color.
